Standards
Editorial guidelines.
- 01
Article types
Essays, explainers, educational discussions, case-based learning pieces (with safeguards), research explainers, elective reflections and invited professional perspectives. Fiction and promotional product copy are outside scope.
- 02
References and sourcing
Claims that depend on evidence should be supported with clear references to reputable sources. Distinguish established fact, emerging evidence and personal experience.
- 03
Originality and authorship
Submissions must be original and submitted with the rights needed for publication. List all authors who made a substantial intellectual contribution. Do not submit work under exclusive consideration elsewhere without disclosure.
- 04
Conflicts of interest
Authors must disclose financial, professional or personal interests that a reasonable reader might consider relevant.
- 05
AI-assisted writing
AI tools may support drafting, but authors remain responsible for accuracy, originality and judgement. Disclose meaningful AI assistance. Never fabricate citations or clinical claims.
- 06
Clinical review
Some pieces receive clinical or specialist review when the subject warrants it. Editorial review and clinical review are not the same as formal academic peer review, and we will not label every article as peer-reviewed.
- 07
Patient confidentiality and consent
Never include patient-identifiable information. Case material requires appropriate consent and ethical review. If in doubt, anonymise further or use a fully fictionalised educational scenario.
- 08
Editorial decisions
The Journal team may accept, decline or request revisions. Publication is never guaranteed. We edit for clarity, tone, length and house style in collaboration with authors.
- 09
Corrections and complaints
If something is inaccurate or unfair, contact kayvajournal@gmail.com with the article URL and a clear description. Significant corrections will be noted on the article.
